COUNTRY FOOTBALL ACADEMY POLICY STATEMENT

INTRODUCTION
The Port Adelaide Football Club understand and appreciate the many challenges that country footballers face when aspiring to progress to the elite levels of Australian football.



The PAFC Football Academy was introduced in 2005 in order to address these challenges and provide talented junior footballers with the best possible opportunity to achieve their football dreams.

Our aim is for country players, Leagues and Clubs to embrace this program in order to provide the talented player an opportunity to develop into the best possible footballer he can be.

This football academy is a key component of our club's strategic focus in developing junior talent in our zone and providing young footballers with the opportunity to progress to SANFL and AFL level.

The major aims of the football academy are:
• To provide talented junior footballers with an elite player development and education program which will provide them with increased opportunities to progress to the elite levels of our game

• To fast track the development of talented junior players from within our country zone

• To provide talented junior footballers in our country zone with opportunities to travel to Adelaide to play football at SANFL level


PROGRAM COMPONENTS

Skill Development: Kicking Technique; Hand Eye Coordination; Decision Making; Game Sense; Training Sessions; Trial Game
Athletic Development: Individual Fitness Profiling; Fitness & Strength Training; Recovery Techniques; Stretching Techniques
Education Sessions: Drug and Alcohol Awareness; High Performance Nutrition; Strength & Conditioning for Football; Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation; Talented Player Pathway
Personal Development: Communication Skills; Public Speaking; Time Management; Goal Setting; Performance Assessment.



MISSION STATEMENT
To provide junior footballers in our country zone with increased opportunities to play football at the elite level - SANFL and AFL football - by providing an advanced education training and development program.
