5th Jul 2010 The Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club wishes to congratulate James Meiklejohn who will this Saturday play his 100th League game against North Adelaide.
Meiklejohn was recruited from the Sydney Football Club and made his league debut for the Magpies in Round 1 2005. A most improved player and runner up best & fairest with the club, James was this season given the task of wearing the No 1 Guernsey and leading the club and young group of players.
“Jimmy has come a long way since his 1st season at our club back in 2005. He arrived as a very young and raw ruckman who was still learning the game. He is now regarded as one of the elite Ruckman in the SANFL. Along the way to 100 League games he has won the most improved award on 2 occasions, been runner up in the Best & Fairest in 2007 and awarded the Vice Presidents Best Team Man in 2009. James is in his 1st year as the captain of our club and is handling the responsibilities that come with that title very well. Still only 26, Jimmy has plenty more years of elite footy left in him and will be a great role model for our young list in years to come.” Tony Bamford, Senior Coach.
The Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club is delighted to see James reach this milestone in his career and wishes him all the best for this weekend’s milestone game.
